How To Start Entering Data

Since NM Collector JE allows you to manage multiple collection types in one database AND customize each, it can be a little confusing at first.  Please keep the following in mind when you start using NM Collector Software.  It will be much more intuitive once you get started.

• The tree view on the left starts with a list of available collection types.  To start entering data you must select a collection type (e. g. Firearms or Home Inventory)
• Once a collection type is selected you will see the field captions for that collection type.  At this point you can start editing the field captions but you cannot yet enter data for a specific item because a specific item has not yet been selected.
• You can select an existing item by clicking on it in the tree view or you can insert a new item after the currently selected item in the tree view by clicking the insert button.  Once an item has been created or selected you can now edit or enter data for that item.
