Backup Your Data Often


Your data is very important and it takes a lot of effort to capture it.  Unexpected things can happen with any program or computer systems so protect yourself from data loss by backing up your data frequently.  With NM Collector Software it is easy to backup your data. 
Recommended Best Practice:

It is best to copy the software from the USB flash drive to your main computer's hard drive and run it from there rather than directly from the USB flash drive. It will run substantially faster from your hard drive than from the USB flash drive.

You can then back up your data to the USB flash drive on a regular basis for safe keeping. You can still use the USB flash drive on any computer you want including those of friends and family if you choose to share your collection with them.  See “How To” videos for a tutorial on how to copy NM Collector Software from your USB flash drive to your desktop computer and how to copy your database from one location to another.

To avoid data loss, please use proper procedure to remove USB Flash Drive from computer!
There are several ways to backup and recover your NM Collector Data. Here are but a few.  Whichever choice you make, be sure to practice backup and recovery BEFORE you need it so you know that it works!

1. You can simply backup the entire installation directory by copying it to the location of your choice. The frequency is up to you depending on how much work you are willing to lose. 2. If you prefer, you can simply copy the database itself to a backup location. If you ever need to recover it simple copy it back to your installation directory. The NM Collector Software JE database is a folder named nmcswDB which is located in the installation directory.  If you chose to use this option please remember to backup and restore the file named app.props as this file has settings that must match the database or the program may not work!
